Childhood fascinations
As a child I spent countless hours at the beach, scowering the tidepools for whatever I could find.
100s of shells would eventually make their way into my treasured home collection.
Among the most fascinating was the Trochus shell, its perfect conical shape was so curious.
A speakers greatest enemies
Sand
No matter the speaker sand infultrates some way or another, creating a cackling unpleasant sound.
Water
The bane of most speaker existence, regardless of labels, no one really wants to test if its "really" waterproof.
Goal:
Design a speaker impervious to sand and water, optimized for use at the beach.
A Worn Wear feeling
The Trochus Shells were designed and built on the principles of Patagonia's Worn Wear. Using natural and reclaimed materials, with hand crafted techniques.
Prepared big or small?
The flagship version has 3 internal drivers, touch sensitive buttons, aux inputs and charging ports all located centrally on the water proof face.
The Trochus Shell
One drive, one button.
Same thing, just a little less.

Using low impact materials
Natural rubber top:
Lower carbon emissions
+ While neoprene is made in factories, natural rubber is produced by hevea trees that absorb carbon throughout their lifespan—reducing CO2 emissions by up to 80%.
Reclaimed wood body:
Reduced deforestation
+ Decrease demand for newly sourced lumber, which helps curb deforestation.
+ Reduces landfill waste as well as the use of environmental hazards to manufacture new products.
Recycled aluminum tip:
Lower carbon emissions
+ Recycled and circular aluminum can reduce emissions by as much as 95%.
+ Reduces geological impact from mining.
